Job Title:                                              Receiving Clerk

Work Hours:                                         7:00 – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday

Pay Scale:                                           $14-$16 Per Hour, DOE

Primary Job Function:                           Ensure that correct orders are documented and packaged safely, check received goods for accuracy and ensure that the general incomings and outgoings within a warehouse are handled efficiently.   Orders are labelled legibly and correctly.  Processes receiving documentation accurately and recognize missing information.

Reports to:                                          Warehouse Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Arrive and be ready to start work promptly at determined start time.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to our company’s core values.
  • Contribute to a safe work environment through continuous focus on housekeeping and safety.
  • Receive incoming shipments and compare items to work orders provided by supervisor
  • Count items to ensure that the correct number have been received
  • Determine storage areas for incoming shipments and allocate appropriate space within the warehouse
  • Assist in physically moving incoming items to designated storage areas and supervise storage activities
  • Look through work orders to determine order picking activities and pick orders according to the specific instructions provided
  • Match order information in order cards with information on picked items to ensure conformity
  • Operate forklifts to pick heavy boxes and transport them to checking areas
  • Ascertain the quality and quantity of picked items and ensure that they are safely delivered to the delivery pallet
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks and determining safe ways of stacking items on the truck and retrieving items in a safe manner
  • Record damaged or defective items and replace them according to company policies
  • Handle returns and exchanges by ensuring that reverse distribution processes are followed properly
  • Ascertain that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and that correlating documents are available with each shipment
  • Select the method of consignment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
  • Arrange for a carrier vehicle or pickup
  • Compare the amount and identification numbers of goods against orders
  • Maintain files of shipping records
  • Trace missing or lost shipments
  • Route products to departments
  • Attach identifying information and delivery instructions on containers
  • Organize records of goods shipped
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Be able to identify product by size, type, style, color or product code.
  • Motivated self-starter able to work without constant supervision.
  • Solid reading skills – must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked.
  • Basic math skills and reasoning skills.
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing using the English language.
  • Able to obtain Certification to operate powered lift-truck.
  • Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions.
  • Team player with organizational abilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in related field preferred.
  • Experience in the delivery of a variety of materials.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is a plus (start shift early and/or stay until the work is complete)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record a must.

Physical:

  • Able to move/lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
